Gaming Holiday 2020

The anticipation for Xbox Series X is boiling down

The Xbox console coming out will have a whopping 12 teraflops of raw power. This is bonkers compared to any console has launched with before it. This may be the biggest jump of power from one generation to another generation. The PS5 has not provided how much power their console is bringing to the table. If it’s somewhere close to 12 teraflops we are in for an ambitious graphical display of gaming glory.

Sony PlayStation 4 has some massive exclusive IPs that need to be competed with in the upcoming console wars. Nintendo does not seem interested into jumping into a high powered console war with Sony and Microsoft. Nintendo has foucs and leverage with kids and family oriented games. Although Nintendo has tailored their games such as Mario and party games, they are also increasing support for hardcore gamers as well. Hardcore gamers however want the highest visuals. The expectation for quality is higher than ever especially since Sony and Microsoft want to charge $500 for an entry launch console. Xbox is also changing their interface to an easier to navigate experience similar to the PlayStation dashboard.

The Countdown is On

Both Sony and Microsoft has heard our voices and finally is taking backwards compatibility seriously. They will allow you to reuse purchases from the Xbox One on the new Xbox Series X as well as PS4 games will be compatible with the PS5. Xbox Series X and PS5 are launching in the same holiday and seems to be going to stores at the same price point. PS5 seems to have the advantage as PS4s have sold about 2 to 1 to Xbox One, as customers have been dedicated to the PlayStation ecosystem. Microsoft is making major moves as it invests into development teams to make exclusive games. Cross playing between consoles seems to be the direction we are headed to with major multi platform games. Keeping our friends and circles able to game with each other is key no matter what console they decided to buy. Not everyone can afford supporting multiple consoles.
